White Oak in central Indiana

In central Indiana the white oaks that matter are almost always remnant trees — 150-year-old survivors left standing when a subdivision was cut in around them — not anything a homeowner planted. They are simultaneously the most valuable tree on the lot and the one most easily killed by the construction that spared them, so white oak calls are usually preservation, decline diagnosis, or a removal five to fifteen years after the build.
