Assume hours. A tree with a lifted root plate can go over with no further warning, and the next gust or the next inch of rain is enough. This is the only entry here that legitimately justifies a same-day or after-hours response, and the reason is specific: unlike decay or disease, the failure mechanism is already active and nothing about it stabilizes overnight. What changes while you wait is the soil — as it dries, holding capacity partly recovers, but the torn roots do not regrow, so a tree that seems to settle down after a dry week has not become safe. Until help arrives, keep people and vehicles out of a zone at least as wide as the tree is tall, on all sides, and stay out of the rooms under the lean if the tree can reach them.
