How do I know if my tree has oak wilt?
Rapid wilting from the top down in summer, leaves dropping while still half green, often one side of the canopy first. It attacks all oaks. red oak group dies fastest; white oaks often survive years.
What it does to the tree
A red oak showing symptoms is usually lost within a season. The urgent job is protecting the oaks around it, because it moves underground through grafted roots.
