How big does a honey locust get and how long does it live?
Roughly 40 to 70 ft tall with a broad, open, spreading crown and fast early growth. Do not read long life into that size — during the 1980s decline, honeylocusts under 30 years old were dying of Thyronectria canker across multiple states — and the open light branching means removal usually sits in a lower cost bracket than a comparable-height oak.

This is the one tree on the list arborists rarely blame for lifted walks and drives, which is why it fills parking-lot islands and 4-ft sidewalk cutouts across the metro. It tolerates compaction, high pH, drought, and road salt better than almost anything else here, so the salted, stripped-clay north-side subdivisions are where it is still holding on — though roots will surface over time in badly compacted or chronically dry soil.
