How big does a colorado blue spruce get and how long does it live?

40-60 ft by 15-25 ft is the realistic ceiling in an Indiana yard, against 100 ft-plus in its native Colorado range. It can exceed 150 years out west, but here 20-30 years is a common landscape run before decline forces the issue — so most blue spruce removals are mid-bracket work: a 25-35 ft tree, usually part-dead, wedged in a side yard between two houses.

Spread below ground too

Shallow, spreading, and poorly suited to the wet oxygen-starved clay of stripped-topsoil lots — that chronic root stress is the underlying reason the foliar diseases win. It is no infrastructure risk, but the root zone is the entire treatment: a grade change, added fill, or an irrigation head running daily under the skirt will accelerate decline faster than any spray program can slow it.
