Does a kentucky coffeetree drop a lot of debris?
Two litter events, neither of which is leaves in the usual sense. Female trees drop 5 to 10 inch leathery pods from midwinter into spring — hard enough for a mower deck to throw, with pulp and seeds containing cytisine that is toxic to dogs and livestock — and in fall the tree sheds stout woody leaf rachises up to a foot and a half long that will not shred, rake or compost like ordinary leaf litter.
How much tree is dropping it
Mature at roughly 60 to 80 feet tall with a 40 to 55 foot spread and an open, irregular crown. It is long-lived, with specimens routinely running past a century, so removals land in the full large-tree bracket — though the open crown and tough, non-shattering wood make rigging comparatively predictable, which can pull the quote below a same-size silver maple.
