Planted across the Midwest in the early 20th century as a fast, drought-proof shelterbelt tree, and it has been paying that back ever since — brittle wood, short life, and seed into every fencerow and pavement crack. In central Indiana it is the species most often removed on a general "just get rid of it" basis rather than for one identifiable defect, and it is no longer recommended for planting anywhere in the region.

A mature siberian elm is a large tree, which in this market usually puts the work between $400 and $1,900. It's on the hazard list, and that matters for price: a compromised tree often can't be climbed, so it needs a bucket or a crane, and that is most of the cost.
Don’t sit on this one. Hazard species get more dangerous and more expensive to take down every season they’re left — the wood goes brittle, and a tree that could have been climbed last year needs a crane this year.
