Is my amur maple dying or just stressed?
Decline shows up stem-by-stem within the clump rather than all at once: one trunk yellows, wilts and dies while the rest stay green, usually pointing to a basal canker, a buried root collar, or Verticillium wilt, to which maples generally are susceptible. That distinction is the whole call — a single failing stem is often solved by cutting that stem out, while simultaneous wilting across every stem means the entire plant is finished.
