Is an arborvitae common in central Indiana?
The single most-planted privacy screen in central Indiana subdivisions, and increasingly a losing bet on the developing suburban fringe around Indianapolis where deer pressure is heavy. 'Green Giant' is the usual substitute because deer browse it less than 'Emerald Green', though less is not the same as not at all.
Why that matters for tree work
It is the default privacy hedge in every central Indiana subdivision, and the two things that end them are deer and ice. Because they go in as tight rows on a property line, one failed plant is a permanent visible hole that never fills — so arborvitae work is usually a replacement-and-reset job rather than a single removal.
