Post-2015 subdivisions read very differently, with uniformly young front-yard stock, and ash is gone countywide after emerald ash borer reached all 92 Indiana counties by 2017. That context matters for red maple: this was the default ash replacement, so central indiana now has an enormous cohort of red maples and freeman hybrids all planted between roughly 2005 and 2015 and all aging into their problems at the same time.
