How big does an eastern red cedar get and how long does it live?
Typically 30-45 ft tall by 8-20 ft wide in the open here, and it can live well past 100 years; fencerow trees stay narrow while yard specimens broaden with age. Removals land at the low end of the cost bracket because they rarely overhang a roof by much — the cost driver is access and a surprisingly dense, heavy crown for the height, not size.
Spread below ground too
On deep ground it sets a taproot with wide laterals, which is why it holds through drought and rarely uproots; on shallow or compacted clay the system is flatter and more fibrous. It poses effectively no threat to sewer laterals or foundations, making it one of the safer conifers to leave near a drive — the practical root issue is that field-grown cedars transplant badly and the stump grinds hard and resinous.
