How big does a tree-of-heaven get and how long does it live?

Grows fast to 60–80 ft with a coarse, open, sparse crown but is short-lived, typically under 50 years. Removal pricing is deceptive here: the takedown is comparatively cheap for the size because the wood is light and soft, but the required herbicide follow-up and repeat sucker treatment across one to two seasons is where the real cost sits — quote the program, not the tree.

Spread below ground too

The root system is the entire problem: it suckers aggressively from lateral roots, throwing new stems up dozens of feet from the parent through lawns, drive cracks, foundation seams and fence lines. Damaging those roots by trenching or grading triggers still more suckering, so a partial excavation leaves the homeowner worse off than doing nothing at all.
