Does a sassafras drop a lot of debris?
It is not a heavy dropper. Fall color runs gold to orange to bright red and comes down over a short window; the ongoing nuisance is twig litter after every wind event and the lawn sprouts that come back each season, plus small dark blue drupes on red stalks in late summer that birds strip fast enough that most people never notice them.
How much tree is dropping it
Usually 40 to 60 feet tall at 1 to 2 feet in trunk diameter — big enough to matter, not big enough to need a crane on most lots. It is short-lived for a hardwood at roughly 50 to 100 years, so removals typically price in the mid bracket, climbing only when the lean puts it over a roof or a fence line.
