Does a flowering crabapple drop a lot of debris?
Fruit size decides everything. Small-fruited modern cultivars under half an inch hold their fruit through winter and get cleaned up by birds, while the large-fruited older cultivars in 1970s-90s subdivisions carpet the drive in October, ferment, stain concrete, draw wasps and get tracked indoors — layered on top of the annual scab leaf drop in midsummer.
How much tree is dropping it
Mature at roughly 15 to 25 feet tall and often just as wide, with a 30 to 70 year lifespan and peak flowering and form in the first 25 to 40 years. Removal is a small-tree bracket by height, but tight setbacks, dense low branching and a crown that overhangs the drive and the neighbor's fence make them slower on site than the numbers suggest.
