Does a black locust drop a lot of debris?

Small twigs and short leafy branchlets shed constantly, and the leaflet drop arrives late — this is one of the last trees to go bare in central Indiana, which throws off fall cleanup scheduling. It also drops fragrant white flower clusters in late May that go slimy on walks, followed by flat pods about 3 inches long that hang on and rattle down through winter.

How much tree is dropping it

Usually 30 to 50 ft in a yard with an irregular open crown, fast-growing and short-lived, with borers and heart rot commonly ending it well ahead of the other hardwoods here. Size is the saving grace on cost — it is rarely a crane job — but a hollow stem changes the felling plan entirely, and the wood is rot-resistant enough that it is worth offering as fence posts or firewood.
